She’s back. A very important person in my life. I missed our relationship, our partnership, the way we sparked off each another with our ideas. But last night she texted me and I’ve never been happier.
It is not the first time she’s disappeared from my life, suddenly without notice. Her circumstances means she cannot always tell me where she’s going or give me contact details. But when she does pop up she’s worth the unexplained absences. We click back into the old routine, seamlessly catching up on each other’s lives as if no time had passed at all. We work together on our ideas and come up with amazing results, my aspiration for an outcome, her superior skills.
It is her superior intelligence and skills which means she is liable to move around. And that’s something I have to accept. But I need her, she gets me on a level that no other person has been able to. And that’s a special gift worth reaching out for.
After the last, sudden disappearance, I rooted around the oodles of old receipts and cards in my bag. I’m sure she had given me a number I could call her on. I wasn’t sure if it was still valid, so sent a polite text to check if it was she. My phone buzzed, the message flashed on the screen, the phrases were formed in such a way I could tell immediately it was Yo.
‘I’m working at Cove hair at the Hilton now’ my hairdresser replied. I shed a tiny tear and breathed a huge sigh of relief. Panic over.
