Sussex Pregnancy and Baby Fair
Saturday 10th May, 2014, 10am - 2pm
Hove Town Hall
Whether you’re pregnant, have a small one or even at the planning stage, you won’t want to miss the Sussex Pregnancy and Baby Fair this Saturday. Showcasing a diverse range of services and talent in the sector from Brighton & Hove, you get a chance to meet therapists and experts and talk about your parenting needs. I spoke to organiser Naomi from uFlourish, to find out more.
Claire and Naomi have 10 years of experience in the pregnancy and baby industry between them. After running hypno-birthing classes together, they realised they couldn’t bombard their clients with the vast amount of information out there but wanted to find a way to introduce the options. Thus the Pregnancy and Baby Fair was born, an event focusing on ‘wisdom and well-being’ in other words, empowering parents in order to make informed choices when they start their family.
The event is free and you can expect to experience taster sessions and take advantage of special show deals. There is also the option to book onto practical workshops and hear a talk from popular parenting author Sarah Ockwell-Smith, for a ticketed fee.
“These are local businesses for local people,” Naomi explains, “we’re fortunate in Brighton to have very interesting professional people with amazing ways of looking at things. Many people don’t know they exist. People often say to us, ‘I wish I’d know about this or that service.’ so we are trying to make easier access.”
It’s also a super opportunity for small, local practitioners, to promote their expertise. “It is difficult when you work for yourself to market yourself effectively. Plus it’s difficult to work with the NHS and not always practical for local business. ” Naomi says. uFlourish have produced a directory of local pregnancy and baby business in order to have a voice together and compliment the information shared by the NHS to expectant parents.
