A mum and baby group with a difference. When a woman gives birth the focus shifts to the baby. Mums have to care for a newborn, but there is no infrastructure in place to care for them. A group that isn’t entirely focused on the child helps mothers reconnect with the women they’ve always been.
In this four week course, participants attend structured sessions in the same group (maximum of 12) to facilitate more in-depth conversation. They explore their experiences through art, writing and photography. There will be a (female) photographer attending a session, will also receive a photo of them with their baby at the end of the course. Post-natal depression groups can carry the stigma of ‘not coping’; Mothers Uncovered is a safe space which encourages women to address problems as challenges to be shared and to express feelings, openly and honestly, without judgement.
