Mother’s Day Does Not Cost Money
It’s easy to walk into a shop, buy a card and some treats. But spoiling Mum this Sunday doesn’t have to be expensive.
My husband and I had a conversation this morning. He was preparing me for a less than special Mother’s Day as he’s working. We’re also saving for our holiday spends, so I don’t want, or even need, a spa voucher, chocolates or expensive flowers. It’s simple really.
I want a cup of tea and breakfast in bed, brought to me by my two smiling girls. I want a morning to myself to read in bed or write in my journal. I want someone to run me a bath and leave me in peace to soak. I want to spend ages on grooming and doing outrageous make-up. I want to reach the bottom of the wash basket and have a clean kitchen. I want cups of tea on tap and a foot rub. I want a song and a dance from my gorgeous daughters. I want to play a game and laugh lots with my family. I want a day where we don’t moan, cry or raise our voices. I want to cuddle my mum and close my eyes.
Mother’s Day doesn’t have to cost money, in fact I don’t think it should.
