Making money from your spring clean

This summer we are going on our first summer holiday. Not just as a family but as a couple too.

With funds being tight and passports to buy we have been looking for various ways that we can make money. In desperate need of a spring clean too we know we have lots of good stuff to sell. Big baby items like a cot right through to DVDs and CDs that have been played once.

Firstly there is the good old car boot sale. Sure we have accumulated lot’s of junk over the years and so this can be a great way to get rid of our eclectic store room pile. The last car boot sale we did ended up with Gav buying lots of Doctor Who dvds. Plus we don’t have a car so we have to rope a friend in to help with that aspect!

We have thought about what we can get rid of and we have so many baby clothes that selling clothes online could be a great way of raising cash. Ebay, Gumtree and even Magpie sites are easy to use and you just have to box up and send off or pick a free listing day to save some extra pennies. Recently I have noticed a cash 4 clothe show pop up as well.

In Brighton a few table top sales have popped up during the last three years. Our directory is full of listings for this kind of sale.

More recently though I have notices a few facebook pages pop up covering local selling options. Just get together a facebook photo album of your sale and post them on the various boards available.

And then what about an open house. I have noticed a few of these pop up in the Queens park area of the city. People having a yard sale before moving house or just for a clearout. Publicising this is stuck to very local though.

How are you raising extra pennies this summer?
