Love Local: Craftaganza

I absolutely love to buy local where I can. Local shops are standing tough against the economic downturn and we are seeing an increasing amount of friends and family become aware of where their food and gifts are coming from.
Last week saw Craftaganza at Fabrica - a day of local, handmade and kitsch. The week before I had been invited to Porta to see the launch of Plastic Fantastic - four very talented women with their take on Plastic for Spring/Summer 2013. With prices from £4 to £65 there was something for every budget - gorgeous pieces, handmade with love by their own hands. Perfect.
This time we came away with lots of goodies from Designosaur - they produce lots of cool stuff in colourful perspex and wood. Thanks to Karli there is something for everyone and we came away with a brooch for Mum, Dad and Fizz. Fun and funky dinosaurs, unicorns and much more. Karli even gave Fizz a big lot of designosaur stickers for her reward chart. Win.
In 2013 I want to explore how much of our family budget gets spent locally so a regular Love Local column will feature on Brighton Mums. A selection of hidden gems, well known but independent. Places to shop and contribute to the local economy.
