Being partial to a rice cake snack, I was intrigued to try Kallos Belgian Chocolate range and get creative with my toppings! If you think rice cakes are a bit on the bland side, then think again.
When someone says ‘rice cake’ it conjures up visions of that time you starved yourself on the latest fad diets, eating two for lunch with nothing but a smear of hummus – tut, tut! Happily those days are gone, since we heard the news fad diets don’t work. But as a busy working mum-of-two, I do need to nibble on snacks during the day and this is where I can fall down on my calorie intake.
I was sent the samples to try and this lead me to research’s Kallo’s quite breathtaking range (go on, check out their website). Whatever your preference, I am positive there’s a health-conscious, guilt-free snack solution waiting for you there!
I tried a few of the varieties, including Blueberry and Vanilla and Quinao and seeds, but my absolute favourite has to be the Belgian Milk Chocolate Organic Rice Cake Thins. Not only are these vegetarian and coeliac friendly, they are versatile enough to pair up with some extras and indulge. I sliced up some strawberries and popped on my rice cake with a dollop of plain cottage cheese, which while this may sound strange, it complimented the sweetness just creamily.
Belgian Chocolate thins have now become a ritual. A couple of the afternoon, when I’m hitting that 4pm energy slump. A nibble in the bath, once the kids are in bed and the house is mine once more.
I was also very happy to discover that my favourite health food store in the city centre, Infinity Foods, stock a number of the Kallo products, including the delicious Belgian Milk Chocolate thins. So if you’re looking for the perfect snack which won’t throw you off your healthy eating track, look no further.
