First Bike As A Mum

0

I am really excited to get my first bike since having the kids. I gave up cycling when I got pregnant, after three London to Brighton achievements under my belt, I wasn’t too sad.

We are really lucky to have a bike shop only a few minutes round the corner. Grandad is a bit of a local legend, now the shop has an additional face, Mitch - renaming the business as Mitch and Grandad’s Bike Shop.

You may remember Grandad from the original London Road Open Market. He was there for over thirteen years before moving to the shop at the bottom of Elm Grove while the new market was being built. Not shy of expressing an opinion or two, Grandad is quite a character. I sometimes stop for a chat and a cuppa!

We get our bikes services here regularly. They are reliable and reasonably priced. Mitch and Grandads have a fabulous stock of second hand refurbished adult and kids bikes on offer.

This beautiful and quality Giant bike was refurbed by Mitch, he added the back rack and the basket. I also bought a d-lock for £20, which was fitted before I left.

I was a bit nervous on the roads, having not ridden for a few years (and I used to be a little nervy anyway!) but I loved my first ride out to the Marina and back from Elm Grove.
