FESTIVAL PICK: Little Sunday - Refuelling the Mothership

Brighton Fringe Festival event, Little Sunday comes off the back of an extremely successful Big Sunday event for mothers in November last year. The concept being, a pamper day for the mind and soul aimed at busy mums who don’t get a lot of time for letting off creative steam. There’s a limited special offer on, buy two tickets for the price of one (see website for terms), so why should you part with the cash and see what it’s all about.

Last November I peered in through the window of a beautifully cluttered artists studio at the Brighton Youth Centre. It was a mono-printing class. Lots of smiles, lots of mess. The mothers resembled their kids after a fulfilling nursery school session, complete with a finished piece of artwork to take home to the family. Mums are so busy facilitating art sessions for their kids, they probably lack the energy and motivation to organise the same activity for themselves, These ladies obviously loved every minute of it and came away glowing.

Parents spend a great deal of time physically tired, we tend to focus on resting our bodies or rejuvenating them in some way. But what about our minds? After all, aren’t the mind, soul and body inextricably linked? That is what the Little Sunday workshops are all about. Giving your mind a day off from the routine of family, work and domesticity and flexing some creative brain muscle instead.

Little Sunday comes in two installments as part of the Brighton Fringe. 19th May, 2013 you can choose between, decorative & fun Mono-printing or Organisation Workshop for Busy Mums for your life laundry in the morning then Your Story creative writing or the unique Bliss Space Yoga/Coaching in the afternoon. On Sunday 2nd June, 2013 you can choose between getting your hands dirty with Clay Handbuilding or Creative Writing for the morning session and Empowered Portraits for the family or Blogging your heart out in the afternoon.
