Award-winning a cappella sensation In the Smoke are preparing to bring their unique mix of polished harmonies, creative arrangements and high-speed Disney to Brighton Fringe.

Fresh from being crowned 2015 Voice Festival UK Community Champions in April, the 18-member group will swap the big smoke for the seaside as they take to the stage at the Old Courtroom on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May.

With a set list featuring instrument-free takes on TLC, The Bangles, Peter Gabriel and Mumford and Sons – as well as their legendary medley cramming 57 Disney favourites into four minutes – this family-friendly concert will showcase In the Smoke’s distinctive blend of top-notch close harmony, warmth and comedy.

About In the Smoke

Since 2007, London-based In the Smoke have been wowing audiences with their eclectic and ever-changing a cappella repertoire – all arranged by group members, and covering everything from Nine Inch Nails and The Who to musical showstoppers to Rihanna.

Gigs across the UK have seen the group win a loyal following of fans, perform sell-out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe and earn a string of accolades, including taking the Voice Festival UK Community Competition title and Best Arrangement Awards in 2012 and 2015, and the rarely-awarded Ward Swingle Award for Originality in 2013.

In the Smoke’s singers include former members of renowned UK and US cappella groups, including Out of the Blue and Fitz Barbershop.

In the Smoke will perform at the Old Courtroom, Church Street, on Saturday 9 May at 5.30pm and Sunday 10 May at 3pm. Tickets are £8/£6 and available now from brightonfringe.org.
