Day 23 - Practice Pre-Christmas Calm

The flurry of preparation and social activities can be overwhelming at this time of the year. A few minutes of meditation could be just the trick to reset your thoughts and focus on enjoyment rather than stress.

Do you know the benefits of moving meditation? While we’re probably familiar with practices such as yoga and tai chi, if you don’t have time for a class over the Christmas break (or your local studios are closed) you can do some simple mindfulness exercises while walking. Map out the route you plan in advance so you can really focus on your breathing. Be aware of your body, your movement and think of some positive affirmations to repeat in your head while moving. Think ahead to the festive season and all the things you are looking forward to you. Say goodbye to the frustrating things you cannot change.

Over at the Free Mindfulness Project website there are plenty of guided meditations which you can easily do while walking.
