Sunday Soother

Have you ever done a vision board? “What’s that?” I hear you say. Also called a dream board, a vision board is a collage or amalgamation of pictures, photos, words or even objects that inspire and excite you. The idea is to put up what you want to do and achieve, things you love and what you’re passionate about. I wanted to use this as your Sunday Soother because if you’ve had a hectic week, […]

Dear Energy Company, You Are Not Getting My Cash This Winter

IMG_0838

Yesterday, the Energy Secretary welcomed the EDF 3.9% price rise on fuel for being closer to inflation than the prices hikes announced by their rivals. According to Mr Davey, “Now people will see they have [a] choice. It isn’t just the smaller suppliers offering lower prices,”. Personally, I do not see families having to find extra money to pay fuels bills, whether it’s 3.9% or 8.6%, is much of a choice at all. Worrying reports […]

Throwing Money At Mums? Will It Really Encourage Breastfeeding?

20111214-170640.jpg

This morning the government announced plans for a new pilot scheme to encourage breastfeeding among mothers. New mums will be offered up to £200 of shopping vouchers as a incentive to breastfeed their child. The pilot in South Yorkshire and Derbyshire is to be funded by the medical research sector and government and will start from now until March 2014.

Creative Christmas Present Ideas

Christmas is only 7(ish) weeks away and I finally started my shopping for the big day last week. So far I’ve only bought presents for my daughter, although she’s not going to know that it’s Christmas really, as she’ll have just turned one! I’ve noticed that there has been an increase in creative products for children recently due to the fantastic craft movement that’s happening. Brighton is such a creative hub that it only felt […]

Where have all the real women gone…?

A friend of mine posted this link on Facebook recently about the Photo-shopping of pictures for magazines. It makes depressing viewing. We live in a world that is a nightmarish reversal of The Emperor’s New Clothes. We are bombarded by images of these fantastically gorgeous women, which we nod and accept as if they are real. The clothes are there, albeit only just in some cases, but the person behind them has gone. We need […]

Keeping Warm on Bonfire Night

Bonfire Night is swiftly approaching… (Everything is swiftly approaching at the moment; it seems to have a habit of doing this since becoming a parent) Are you braving Lewes for the fireworks? No? Us neither - we’re getting out and heading up North to visit the in-laws before the carnage begins!! But if you are being bold and heading out in the cold, here are my top tips for warm clothing. Outerwear Outerwear is everything […]

Babywearing and Me

Although I tried baby wearing with my first child, I have really developed a love for it with my second. Being able to have two hands free to deal with a toddler is priceless and there are times when it just doesn’t seem worth getting the big double buggy ready, when I can pop the biggest in a stroller and the littlest in the sling and be out.   My sling journey started, like many […]

Creating a spooky spread for Halloween

We love Halloween because it’s one holiday that doesn’t require us to spend loads on gifts or decorations. But that doesn’t mean we don’t celebrate! This Halloween, why not create a spooky spread for your little monsters? Here are some fantastic ideas we found on Pinterest- food that is guaranteed to tantalise and terrify! We love these fun apple slices with mini marshmallows arranged to look like teeth- a perfect accompaniment for these gruesome cheesy […]

Spooky Halloween Costumes for Children

I love Halloween! Pre-Busby I would host an annual Halloween party and always got involved in the Beach of the Dead event. Sadly this has fallen by the wayside the last couple of years as I was too tired (and pregnant) last year and this year Halloween seems to have crept up out of nowhere… I’m feeling very unprepared! I’ve had a look in the shops but haven’t come across anything that’s made me go “I […]

Halloween Pumpkin Cakes

There is something so magical about Halloween for a small child; the fancy dress, the trick or treating and of course all the delicious foods! My little ones are too young to be knocking on doors but we are still joining in with fancy dress and tasty snacks. We have made some little pumpkin cakes this week and they have gone down a treat with the toddler!
