Recipe Of The Month: One-Pan Mediterranean Quinoa
Whether you’re a parent or not, sometimes you just want a quick, simple dish to prepare, to fill one or more hungry tummies. It’s obviously key to tick the box for good nutritional value as well as a speedy feed. Using quinoa (pronounced keen-wa) ticks a big box as it’s high in protein, which is vital for rebuilding muscle tissue broken down through normal bodily functions. To help promote lean muscles and well as aid […]

10 tips for a calmer Easter
Parenting is tough. Period. That’s even when the children are at school or nursery for part of your day. Throw in a school holiday when you are all at home together and it can turn wild, especially when you are 3 hours in and you hear the dreaded words “I’m bored”. You don’t need to miraculously turn into a full time entertainer for the fortnight or feel the need to have activities lined up to cover […]

Mother’s Day Gifts for Brighton Mums!
Mother’s Day is this Sunday! Yes, you read that correctly fellow parents - this Sunday! I had a very panicked man approached me in Waitrose last Friday, red faced and sweating: “Excuse me,” he said “Is it Mother’s Day on Sunday?” Sensing his fear I replied calmly, “No, it’s on 30th March. Mayim Bialik: Breastfeeding is not a sexual act
The actress Mayim Bialik has caught the attention of the Hollywood gossip press, defending her decision to feed her child in public - out of need! Best known for her role as Dr Amy Farrah Fowler on The Big Bang Theory (although for my generation, she is and always will be Blossom), talking to HuffPost Live she explains her views on public breastfeeding. She received a backlash for posting a photograph on her blog, feeding […]

Is Brighton the best place in the UK to breastfeed in public
There are often too many negative stories about breastfeeding in the mainstream media. And while it’s important to continue campaigning for better breastfeeding support in this country, breastfeeding in public is still a concern and leads to mothers stopping before recommended age of 6 months. Unscientifically, if word of mouth, my experiences at being a peer supporter and generally talking to mums in our community, Brighton is, on balance, an incredibly supportive place to breastfeed […]

Breastfeeding In Brighton
I never thought I would breastfeed. In fact, I never thought I would have children at all. After a chaotic and ‘adventurous’ early adulthood, I felt that having children looked too much like hard work. The hormones kicked in at about 35. A combination of a ticking body clock, finally being settled and in love with a wonderful man and searching for a bit more meaning in life than my career offered.
