Babywearing and Me

Although I tried baby wearing with my first child, I have really developed a love for it with my second. Being able to have two hands free to deal with a toddler is priceless and there are times when it just doesn’t seem worth getting the big double buggy ready, when I can pop the biggest in a stroller and the littlest in the sling and be out.   My sling journey started, like many […]

Learning to swim: Day Five, our week ends

Ta-dah! Mummy I did it!

Our week of swimming lessons with Seriously Fun sadly draws to a close but after a shaky start on day one, our 3 year old ends on a high. Day four went without a hitch. Like all the other parents and kids, we led them to the designated registration area and wished them a good lesson. We then huddle in the changing room, chatting and swapping stories. So invigorated in chat was I (ahem), that […]

Learning to swim: Day Three

Proud Little L waiting to go in the pool

Today, Daddy took Little L to her Seriously Fun swimming and more progress was made with her confidence. Finally I have nothing to report on the swimming class and what they practised today and that’s a good thing. Like all the other parents of the older children, we were able to leave her and wait in the changing area during the lesson. There were no tears, no leg clinging, just giggles and smiles. Little L found her confidence, […]

Learning to swim: Day Two

'This is fun Mummy'

Monday we started our Seriously Fun Swim School holiday course with our 3 year old daughter. It didn’t go exactly to plan with her but it wasn’t a completely negative experience, as I found out with her second session on day two. After Monday’s lesson, I got a call from Friedel, the swim teacher at Brighton Seriously Fun. It was to reassure me that Little L’s reaction to the class, the pool and joining in […]

Learning to swim: Day One

Junior_Teacher_and_Child

Today we started our Seriously Fun Swim School beginners holiday course at Roedean School. Each day this week, I’ll be writing about how our 3 year old progresses in the lessons plus give an insight into the different exercises they learn. Despite us making her aware of what was going to happen at the swim class, today did not go to plan. First thing this morning, she burst into the room with her swim gear […]

Can you teach a 3 year old to swim in a week?

20120211-094135.jpg

Our 3 year old is signed up for a Seriously Fun Swim School half term crash course next week. After booking a long overdue family break to Portugal this May, we wanted her to have lessons so she can enjoy the pool but also be safe. Like many parents, we followed a baby swim class until Little L was 18 months old. After 7 stages of classes, she was doggy paddling by the end. It […]
