Photographing Children In Public
The other day I was playing with my kids in Queens Park when I saw a lady with a smart SLR camera, hovering around her child. She was quite clearly excited at catching those first memories of enjoying the slide or playing in the sand. But after a while, I found her constant snapping rather uncomfortable and it was clear other parents did too. Not everyone wants to be in a photograph these days. Social [...]

Yes, it’s me: Cybher Meet and Greet
I’m on a countdown to one of the key blogging events in the UK, Cyber 2012. Time has flown by since I nabbed my early bird ticket, the speakers list is looking juicy and I’m all set to listen but also be a part of the conversation. I’m particularly looking forward to the range of discussion themes, as despite mostly writing about parenthood, there is a Claire outside of that world….the one that likes MAC [...]

Community Reporters Meet-up: Cybermummy Report
At this Thursday’s meet-up for the Brighton and Hove Community Reporters group I will be giving a presentation on Cybermummy 2011. As well as summarising the topics explored by key note speakers and panel discussions, I’ll be giving you my insights into the event and what bloggers took away from it. If you didn’t get the chance to attend, this is an opportunity to get the highlights and ask me questions about the event and [...]

What I learned from Cybermummy 2011
We are back from the Cybermummy 2011 bloggers conference held in London. Our feet are tired, throats sore from networking chats, arms strained from carrying swag bags & brains whirling with new contact names & key note speaker presentations. Most of us woke up the next morning with the same feeling as Boxing Day, an anti-climax but looking forward to a slice of calm. But what was the day all about? There were several key [...]

What does the future hold for Parent Bloggers?
This weekend I’ll be representing Social Media Mums at the Cybermummy bloggers conference. Although aimed at parent bloggers, the annual conference is becoming one of the most important gatherings of social media enthusiasts in the country. The programme of speakers plus the opportunity to network makes it an event no parent blogger can afford to miss. I started blogging over two years ago. I was frustrated at forums, where although the advice shared by other [...]

Both Chelle and I will be looking out for more inspiration, tips and strategies to improve our blogging and engage with our audiences. Plus, not to mention enjoying meeting all our Twitter crowd and networking with other parent bloggers from around the UK. Read our liveblog here and follow all the comments and tweets from the day. We’ll [...]

Want a voice? Grow your own.
This week we were at the Brighton & Hove Community Reporters monthly meet up. It’s a forum where local community groups, reporters, media and bloggers come together to learn more about reporting or share experiences that help grow our voices. The group has been meeting on a monthly basis for over 18 months, inviting guest speakers & discussions about issues affecting reporters & bloggers in communities or ideas on how people can leverage their ‘voice’. [...]
