Katie Elfer: Justfunctioning, Cookery Doodle Doo

Katie originally moved down to Brighton for Uni, then met her husband Sam and never wanted to leave! Katie says that “Life in Brighton now we have a child is very different than my student days, but it has given me a fresh appreciation of the place. Whether it is the fantastic beach and parks, the healthy baby-friendly cafes or the fact that every weekend there is always some wacky event going on. We are never bored!”

As well as a mummy, Katie works full time and has a start-up business; Cookery Doodle Doo, cookery and food-craft classes with children. She particularly enjoys combining her excitement over nutrition, craft and foodie passions with hanging out ‘testing’ themes on her little boy – especially the cakes which he loves!

She also blogs over at Justfunctioning.com, quirky and funny insights into parenting and other topics.

The latest Cookery Doodle Doo events and a recipe ideas section ‘What’s for tea tonight?’ can be found at www.cookerydoodledoo.net

Nancy  Carter

blowing kissesI’m a busy Portslade mum, cook, food and nature-lover who believes we all benefit from a bit of grubbing about in the woods.

After being made redundant in 2012, Nancy founded the fabulous Wildplay and bought the Portslade & Worthing franchise of Cookery Doodle Doo.

Nancy writes about parenting, nature, food, craft and the highs and lows of setting up and running a small business in Sussex.

Jennifer  Jain

JenniferI’m Jennifer, and I’m a Mum to Harry (4) and Mia (1). At the end of 2012 I became a stay at home Mum after being made redundant. It was a bit of a change for me and it has taken some getting used to, but I am so grateful for the opportunity to spend these years with my children. Looking after the little ones keeps me very busy of course, and I spend my free time blogging, reading and crafting.

We’ve been living in the Worthing area for several years now, and I think it’s a great place to live. Worthing has a fantastic location – the sea on one side, the beautiful South Downs on the other, with Brighton and London just a train ride away. There is so much to do in the local area for people of all ages, and we are never stuck for places to visit with the children. We love getting out and about with the family, and we definitely try to make the most of all the wonderful places to visit locally.

I’m a Wife, Mum and Physiotherapist who treats patients and teaches Pilates classes locally in Worthing.

After working and living in London for years, I moved to Worthing 7 years ago and love it!

Marriage and 2 children later, I set up ‘Sussex Physio Pilates’ and ‘Mummy does Pilates’ with a mission of bringing Physio-led Pilates classes to all Mums – Pregnant, Postnatal and Beyond!

I also teach a ‘Pilates4Posture’ class for all, an over 50s class, and have a Worthing based Physio clinic where I see my patients…

I love writing blog posts – sharing the knowledge of what I’ve learnt over the past 15 years of being a Physiotherapist, and also what I’ve learnt from being a Mum. Information, Support and non-judgemental help are my aims.

In my spare time (doesn’t happen very often but even a few minutes of ‘me time’ is valued), you’ll find me on my Yoga and Pilates mat, reading in the bath, cooking or writing fiction…. I will get that book published!
