Free pregnancy talks from Parentskool

Parentskool is hosting a series of free pregnancy talks this summer, whether you are pregnant, planning a baby or just interested in the topic, all are welcome. Entry is free although there will be some collection boxes out for the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths as the organisation are trying to raise funds and awareness for their 40th anniversary.

Each talk is being delivered by experts in the field and will run from 8pm to 9pm at the Hanover Community Centre, Southover Street, Brighton. If you are interested in coming along to any or all of these talks, please let Parentskool know by emailing us info@parentskool.co.uk or call 01273 620401. Or you can just turn up but entry will be on first-come, first served basis.

28 July – Exercise in Pregnancy and Beyond by Kelly Bassett from Fit Not Thin – Blooming Lovely. Expert, Kelly, will explain how safe exercise is during pregnancy, old wives tales, benefits that exercise can have on pregnancy, core stability and the abdominal changes, hormones and what these affect and how this can effect exercise, the importance of eating well and some of the great foods that can help with cravings, and what are the first steps to take back to fitness after having baby.

25 August – Baby sleeping strategies and safety by Judith Howard Regional Development Office from the FSID and Sarah Watkins from Parentskool. Hear all about latest research backed advice, safe sleep information, bedding for infants, bed sharing, smoking information, dummies and swaddling. And find out how to get your baby to sleep, what different types of bed are available and how to choose the right one for you and your baby, and what other equipment you need for your baby’s room.
